Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been a great start to the school year!

To keep the positive momentum going, Region 6 is participating in Start With Hello week September 23-27. Start With Hello is a prevention program that teaches children to be more socially inclusive and connected. Children are taught to reduce social isolation in three simple steps:

See Someone Alone…...Reach Out and Help……Start With Hello!

Throughout Start With Hello week, we will be incorporating different activities, including:

  • Monday: “Hey Day!”  Start with Hello Kick Off!

  • Wednesday: “Mix-It-Up Lunch” - Lunch seating for upper grades is rearranged: games and activities are provided to facilitate conversation with new people

  • Friday: “Reach-Out-to-Someone-New Day” - students all receive a Start With Hello sticker, and are encouraged to use what they learned to play/make conversation with someone they do not usually interact with.

  • Throughout the Week: Classroom lessons and read-alouds by our school psychologist, Kristin Lutz, encouraging our students to “Start With Hello”

A Start With Hello brochure with more information and ideas for home will be attached to next week’s e-newsletter. We know the students will enjoy this week and will carry the ideas forward throughout the year!

 PTO NEWS

This week PTO members had fun shopping for brand new recess equipment! With the delivery of our new outdoor storage units it is time to fill them up! We purchased everything from new kickballs to lacrosse sticks, bean bag toss and much much more. Please join us at our next meeting on October 7th at 7pm

Pick Up Dismissal Procedures

On Wednesday, we started a new dismissal procedure for student pick up. Dismissal will still be in the cafeteria, but we ask that you do not arrive any earlier than 3:25 for pick up. Students will be dismissed one at a time at the cafeteria door and there will be no need for the parent/guardian to enter the building. This new dismissal procedure is in effort to make the pick up process go smoothly, quickly and as safely as possible. Please make note, that dismissal changes need to be mailed or called in to the office by 11:00am the day of the dismissal change. This will ensure that your child will be dismissed to the proper location.

STUDENT PHOTO INFORMATION

On Wed, September 18 and Thur, September 19 your child had their picture taken. If you have not placed an order, you can still hand order forms in to the school. If you would like to view your child’s image or are not satisfied with your photo, please contact Positive Images directly by phone 860-355-8459 or by email posimage@charter.net. Retakes will be scheduled within the next few weeks for anyone who would like to take a new picture or that was absent on picture day.
